DR Coat

Hi all
After years of searching I have managed to purchase an original DR coat - short version

It's in good condition bearing in mind it's 1941 date

Any tips on how to clean - I'd like to tidy it up a bit - but don't clearly don't want to destroy it

Re: DR Coat

Good question John

Is it a "Duck" material with a thin layer of rubber sandwiched between two layer of fabric, in which case heat could cause damage and may mean dry cleaning is out

And scrubbing the surface could remove colour?

Re: DR Coat

Never ever dry clean, it will ruin it, its how I ruined my much loved tank suit.

Re: DR Coat

Hi John..It might we worth trying one of the "dry" carpet cleaners like Vanish Gold Carpet Cleaner...comes as a spray on foam that you vacuum off when its dry and lifts off dirt.

If you mist spray the fabric with water to damp it ,spray on a light covering of foam and work in to fabric with soft microfiber cloth or VERY soft short bristle ( finger nail cleaning ) brush and then let it dry naturally and vacuum over. Obviously do a small test piece to check colour fastness and chemical compatibility first .

Good luck

Re: DR Coat

Hi all

Thanks for suggestions

The coat is rubberised so chemical cleaning is not possible

Good old elbow grease will be the way forward i think
