My Indian speedo give me a 10 km/u ( 6 mph) higher reading than the actual speed. I checked with speedometer on my smartphone. Has this to do with the size of the engine- and/or gearbox sprocket The cable is driven by the gearbox.
It probably has a lot more to do with the inbuilt manufacturing error of these cheap magnetic speedos! A 6mph error is actually quite good by the standards of these things...
REgards, Mark
The speedos are usually driven of the lay shaft in the gear box. If you were to increase the gearbox sprocket by one tooth this would probably do the trick. This would slow down the lay shaft. It would of course raise the gearing. You could then lower the engine sprocket by one tooth to roughly equalise every thing. Other wise live with it, this will help you to stop exceeding the speed limit.
