WM20 toolboxes

I've just bought a wm20 toolbox on eBay. Its original and unmolested, just a little rusty and dented. It still has some military green paint on the inside.
All other boxes I've seen have 2 holes reinforced with penny washers on the back face. My one has 3 such holes.
It does not have the square fitting on the lid as others do. Incidently what is that for?
It has a threaded stud where others have a threaded hole to accept the classic wm20 knob.
I'm going to use it on my Jan 1942 wm20.
Is it a later post war version? any ideas?

Re: WM20 toolboxes

Hi Jon,

Regarding the 3th hole: could be an early one as the early bikes were fitted with the valanced rearmudguard and had an extra bolt fitted, quite high in the box, to fit the toolbox to the large skirt of the mudguard.

If this is the square pocket on the inside. It's for the riders handbook. Ron
