Circlip removal, ideas please!

Hi all,

Strugling to get a circlip out of the piston. Problem is that the circlip is just a plain one and the piston has not a handy groove to lift them out.

Any bright ideas around??

Cheers, Michiel / NL

Re: Circlip removal, ideas please!

Michiel if the piston has no extraction groove, I can only imagine it should have a circlip with eyes or one with the separate tang to get hold of. No help I know I guess it's a case of just digging with a small sharp screwdriver and small pointed prodger. If you don't need the piston? An angle grinder with thin cutting disc comes to mind. Cut through the end of the gudgion pin hole untill you're through the circlip. Ron

Re: Circlip removal, ideas please!

Hi Ron,

Yes, the wrong circlips are fitted and I did it myself without thinking.

I would like to save the piston, maybe cutting a extraction groove in the piston with the dremel would be a solution, I will try.

Thanks! , Michiel

Good idea Michiel! and it wont matter if you cut the circlip. Ron
