Dating the M20

After several months of research and mathematical calculations. I think that I have figured out what year and day that my BSA was built. With the serial Number on the frame being WM20 24156 this would have been built on July 27-1940
The motor with the serial number being WM20 24662 was built on June 24 or 25 -1940.
This may have been the last part of the contract number C5110, I am not sure that this correct?
Any more information on this and the census number would be appreciated.
Thank you
JB

Re: Dating the M20

Hi JB

The BSA factory ledgers say frame 24156 left the factory on 26.7.40 and the engine 24662 on 12.8.40

Re: Dating the M20

Your frame was part of contract C6654 and would have had the tank serial C4199668 from the factory.

Re: Dating the M20

Fat fingered the motor number WM20 24622 But it has been stamped over and the other number may be WM20 9290 ? does that work out? I know that there are only 4 digits after the WM20. I am working on getting the motor case magged like they do on ground off serial numbers. Pictures to come.
