BSA Girder fork adjustment

Hi Everyone, What is the best way to adjust the linkages on my wm20 girders, The period maintenance books I have got tells me two, To fully tighten the link bolts and tighten the lock nuts, and to tighten the link bolts and back off about quarter of a turn and lock the nuts off, Being new to girders would be good to know the proper way of doing things, Many thanks, John Green.

Re: BSA Girder fork adjustment

Nip the link bolts up one at a time, back off 1/4 turn, tighten its lock nut and then check that it's free to swivel by bouncing the bike before proceeding with the next one. The action of tightening the lock nut can sometimes cause the link to go tight, even though you've back off the bolt. It's a bit trial and error, that's why it's best to do each one in turn. Ron

If they are a bit worn slip a spring washer from a swing back lawnmower blade between the plates
