PREFIX TO FLYING FLEA FRAME NUMBER

Hi all, I have a 1950 reg flea with the later forks, looks very original, the frame number is prefixed REM, 34184, is this a factory post war rebuild using a wartime frame, or a replacement frame, I also have another Registered 1949, with wartime forks, and lots of wartime original fittings with a frame number of 28832, If the REM is a factory rebuild using a wartime frame, why has it such a high frame number, andrew

Re: PREFIX TO FLYING FLEA FRAME NUMBER

Andy I think the last recorded WD frame number for a Royal Enfield WD/RE (Flea) was 11129 with no prefix. I've no idea about post war numbering. Ron

Thanks Ron, I had another look there is another frame number but overstamped with xxxxx I recon re overstamped and REM stands for remanufactured, it has the wartime saddle mount, would enfield bothered andrew

Re: PREFIX TO FLYING FLEA FRAME NUMBER

Well that's feasible Andy. I think they went straight to the short banana shaped saddle nose bracket once the stock of surplus WD Flea's were used up. No need for the WD Maze air filter and the tool box under the saddle. Enfield were well know for re-manufacturing WD bikes after the war. Ron
