BSA Girders

cleaning up what looks like mid thirties unit.

by the front axle area on the flat, found three letters,

WHT

Anyone have any clue as to what that might refer to?

Thanks for viewing anyway

Re: BSA Girders

This is Henri's forks. I recon they're 'Sloper' which I think finished in 1935?

Re: BSA Girders

Nice, but not Sloper, not even BSA I think, looks more like late 20's AJS to me but can't find pictures to proof.

Re: BSA Girders

Wow, what a great looking bike!, never knew AJS made a straight four.

Fork looks like Henry's, probably the same a the ones fitted to the 350 'Big port" versions of around 1929 ??. Very close now.

Cheers, Michiel

Re: BSA Girders

Yes Ron, must be the one, you can spot the little downward facing strips on the tope yoke.

Looks like Henry's fork has a M20 damperknob fitted which probably gave the impression that it was BSA.

Re: BSA Girders

Thanks very much Michiel.

Could not match these girders to sloper. There was a cross bar on the BSA non-existent on these that kept me puzzled.

Found letter S1 on the casting that holds the lower portion of spring. Also previous owner had used gas cap on right side flex tension adjustment. Knob there is from BSA WM20 incorrectly used.

When advertised for sale it was listed as M20 girders.

There are two rectangular curved loose pieces on the stem that goes into frame that I do not understand purpose.

Turns out, I have a 1930 AJS with front girders missing since 2007. Used GL3 instead temporarily.

I think using these girders would be more fitting.

Will post more photos in near future.

All the best
