clutch conundrum

I've just taken apart the 6 spring clutch on my recently aquired B33 and to my mind the dished plain plates were installed wrong.

Now I'm a bit unsure.

The plates in the illustration seem to indicate that the raised side of the plate should be towards the gearbox. Note the orientation of the slots in the plate in the diagram and those in the plates in the other picture (the one on the left has the raised side uppermost). But this doesn't work as the tangs on the first plate do not then engage with the slots in the clutch centre.

All the clutches (not many) that I have so far messed with have the plates with the raised side on the side of the pressure plate and have worked OK (for a 6 spring).

Anyone enlighten me as to the correct orientation?

Also what function do the slots in the plates have? Do they aid in flinging oil off the plates?

Cheers
Pete

Re: clutch conundrum

The dished side faces the pressure plate. I think the slots are to help keep the plates flat.
