I love this photograph. I got it some years back from the Imperial War Museum. I can look at it now on my desk. The only difference is that my version has people's insignia blotted out with what looks like tippex, although i don't suppose it is.

Those troops had hard days to look forward to. I love the look of the guy on the bike. I hope and wish they all got through, but i suppose I especially hope he did. He looks such a boy - and so much on his shoulders.

Did he survive? I would love to know...

I believe that he did survivive and recognised himself in the photo when it was published in 'The Classic Motorcycle' back in the 1980s. Still an active motorcyclist at that time.

I'll look it out this evening.
