Pillion seat - short & long type

Hi all

Recently I purchased a long pillion seat for my 1944/45 BSA M20 thinking it was correct for the period - my bike is from contract S5209 - so the last big completed contract of the war

But now I believe I might in fact need the short seat version

Does anyone have a clear idea of when these seats changed over - my understanding is the the short type replaced the long versions at some point

But when & is my seat correct ?

Can you help

Best regards

John

Re: Pillion seat - short & long type

The contract your bike was in definitely had the short seat...

I think late 43 was the changeover but I'd have to refer to parts lists to confirm absolutely...

The short seat was fitted due to lower back injuries that occurred whilst riding off road on rough ground...I've done it myself on my (42) 'long' pillion M20 and can confirm it's bloody painful...Ian

Re: Pillion seat - short & long type

Thanks Ian

Appreciate the steer on this

When I offered it up it looked very close to the rear of the riders seat -

Looks like I have a ready to fit long type seat surplus to requirements so

Back to the drawing board
