Military Bikes in Italy

Hi Folks,

Some of you will probably have seen my Ariel W/NG either on the AOMCC forum or on my blog:

http://ariel-square-four.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/old-warrior-joins-stable.html

This bike, likes thousands of others was left in Italy during the war to be bought up and sold on by an outfit called ARAR or L'Azienda Rilievo Alienazione Residuati, which basically had the task of selling goods and war materials confiscated from the enemy or abandoned by the allies.

I have a picture of it from 1953, and I have the original Italian registration documents showing it was sold by ARAR.

Does anyone have any clues, information, stories, other examples of bikes being moved on by the ARAR in the late 1940's and early 1950's?

If so, I'd love to hear them.

cheers

Simon

Re: Military Bikes in Italy

Sorry Simon, can't help you with the ARAR research I'm afraid. But I would like to tell you that I'm impressed by the quality of your Ariel tool roll!
