Help with maths

I'm rebuilding a 'Villiers Junior' engine which doesn't have a detachable head. I've got to set the timing at 7/32" BTDC. It's a 50mm stroke. Can anyone convert the 7/32" into degrees please. I have a figure, but not sure I've worked it out right

Re: Help with maths

Hi Ron

there is an online calculator in the link below, you will need the centre to centre conrod length in addition to the stroke.

Re: Help with maths

Thanks iain but I'm not sure I'm getting it with this program

My stroke is 50mm conrod length centres (3 3/4") 95.25mm and I want to set the timing at (7/32") 5.55mm BTDC. But I need it in degrees to use a timing disc. Ron

PS. Playing around with that site a bit more, I'm coming up with a figure of about 35 degrees.....Anyone care to confirm

Re: Help with maths

It's actually 34,8134 degrees to be a bit more precise Ron...

Re: Help with maths

Thanks Jan, That's what I made it. But 35 degrees will be near enough as the segments on my timing disc are at 1 degree intervals. Ron
