Magneto Screwdriver

I'm continuing to attempt to put together the Large and Small Motorcycle Artificers tool kits and this one still has me puzzled?

FA16795 Screwdrivers, Magneto, 1-1/2 in blade. MT2/24158

And my question,is this it? When where these Lucas screwdrivers first made?

Re: Magneto Screwdriver

They were certainly supplied with posh cars in the 1950s...but that doesn't help much.

The standard magneto spanner and feeler wouldn't be much use on a coil ignition vehicle so presumably they could date back to when Lucas first made distributors.

Re: Magneto Screwdriver

My 1961 Mk2 Jag tool kit had one and it's also in the Norton Commando tool kit.

Re: Magneto Screwdriver

I found a complete pre war MG toolset in one of the pre war MG specialists' stalls yesterday, and that one contained a magneto screwdriver as shown in your picture. So if that MG specialist knows his stuff, this must be a pre war tool...
