Yesterday we visited the Canadian War Cemetery in Holten for the annual Don Fife Memorial. It was good to meet a few more people than last year in sunny peaceful weather. Hans again took the flowers and a plate with the famous picture.

Son of Percy and Laura Fife, of Halfway River, Cumberland Co., Nova Scotia.
According to information from his family it was a place near two destroyed bridges that were under repair by the Corps of Engineers, there he hit a mine with his jeep. Together with an officer, he died instantly.
There is a place near Holten called Wippert; there is still a pub nearby the bridge in the Larenseweg.
