Re: NEW BSA M20 CLUTCH

As you know Bob Newby supplies a spacer to go behind the pulley to the bearing so I made one up the width I needed and have just tightened the nut up. I might be missing something but I cant understand why you had to push the crank over before you tightened up the nut, by tightening up the nut doesn't it pull the crank over any way?

Re: NEW BSA M20 CLUTCH

On my crank, at least, the pulley was not a sliding fit...It was necessary for me to heat it so that it expanded and I could then slide it into place..

Of course it rapidly cooled and tightened up once on the shaft..

I decided that fixing the crank in position before fitting the heated pulley would simplify the process and I could then concentrate on getting it all the way on before it cooled, without having to consider what the crank was doing...Ian

Re: NEW BSA M20 CLUTCH

Yes did not think of that. I have had 2 BSA clutches from him and both have been a good sliding fit so that was not a problem for me.
Lets hope that the 20mm belt can cope with the 17bhp and my nimble 16stone!!
Ian..
P.S. a full set of your plates totally cured my clutch slip and drag on the M20, money well spent, thanks.
