clutch adjustment

I am not quite happy with my clutch. I have taken it apart cleaned all surfaces, restacked it as per manual, tighten the centre nut as tight as possible, replaced the clutch rod, greased my ball bearings, set the arm so it sits upright when clutch is engaged, taken slack out of the cable yet it still crunches pretty bad when engaging first, sometimes when you are sitting in first at an intersection it feels like it trying to drive, very slightly. I still seem to have to let it out a fair way before it takes up though. Probably fine adjustment but I can't seem to get it right, any thoughts
Cheers
Roger

Re: clutch adjustment

We have discussed this before. Some after market friction plates are thicker than standard, and with a full set installed there isn't enough lift/room for the plates to separate properly, causing drag. I always leave one friction and one steel plate out anyway, on both mine. They never slip and give a much lighter clutch. Of course it might be as simple as the incorrect handlebar lever, with a wrong pivot point. Ron

Cheers Ron
I did pick up on the lever thread and am pretty sure I am on the right track there, I did miss the bit on leaving a set of plates out, it is a later type set of plates. Good job for the weekend
