WM20 Big End End Float

Hi All
Ref the above. Have finally got the crankshaft out of the old girl and have read all the info on the Technical Section pages and Forum posts from Ian Wright and Dave Plumb but have a couple of questions.
Are there any tricks to removing the screws (EA-62) holding the crank pin nut lock plates on. (Havent tried too hard yet as I dont want to damage the screws)
Also how do you set the big end end float? Stds manual says .010 to .012 mine is about 0.40 with about .023 play in the big end. Have a replacement bigend but cannot find any thrust washers (66-629) for sale. The Stds manual says they are A2 A-2 pressing - what do people use? and is the thickness set by measuring the difference between the big end outer race width and the width across the shoulders on the big end pin and making up the thrust washers to give a .005 difference on each side. Are the thrust washers available in varying thicknesses or are the bearings ground accurately enough for a standard thickness to give the .010 to .012 end float. Have got 6 of the rivets used to fit them.
Best wishes to you all
