Hi guys i have come accross some brake linings from a shop that closed down here in Australia and trying to identify what bikes they fit to sell on Ebay. I am hoping someone has access to old Brake lining catalogues to help me out. DON brake BS14/1, BH40/1, NW10, James JA/14/1.
Duron AG17/3. Fibrax W105S on liner but box marked 1058/1, HS/1095/1 and lastly James LV7/JM R19/5/1 this one appears wartime package. Anyone who can identify I will send an Amal 276 gasket set for each set identified or donate 3 pound for each one identified to this forum.
Regards John
John, James R19/5/1 are the rear linings for a James ML (Military Lightweight) these continued being built in civy form till 1948. The front linings had # J19/4/1 so I guess your JA/14/1 must be when they fitted a bigger front drum at some point. The 'A' suffix on James parts usually means 'Amended'. Donate £3 if you wish. Regards Ron
PS stupid photobucket cropped the picture again? it's number 24 in the left column.
Thanks Ron, I will wait to see what other replies I get on the other linings before I send 3 quid to the forum for your reply. Say hello to Martyn B for me next time you see him. Best regards John in Australia
Martyn sure likes his Indians and Sunbeams. I visited him and Tracey two years ago when I was over your end of the world and expected him to have CNC set ups. I have been buying bits off him for probably 18 years to resell at Autojumbles over here(Swap Meets)we swap cash for parts.
Hi Ron, that,s him alright. Just donated 5 euro to the website. Got some Indian fans over here who went to a salt lake to race an Indian at some incredible speed but could not get enough fuel into it. The owner Peter B did meet Martyn in a pub in Holland on an International Indian rally a couple of years ago. Regards John
