I would think you couldn't have done much better as you were looking for a relatively rare version...

What are your chances of finding a fairing etc....Are those parts about?...

My GB40 had dull plated chrome parts and painted wheels...Would the RAF bikes be the same or did RAF MP bikes get the 'bull' treatment?...Ian

I already have a genuine NOS ex-WD RAF B40 Avon Police fairing, complete with blue light and indicators etc. sat in my garage ready to fit.

All the RAF B40GRs had bright chrome fittings, with some extra bits done as well such as the front brake plate, wheel rims and exhaust system, as they were officially called 'Police Escort' motorcycles suitable for VIP work as well as patrol duties.

Only 135 of these BSA RAF B40GRs were produced between 1968 and 1970, so yes, they are very rare!
