"Dull chrome" North America

I am having my bike hardware dull chromed here in the USA. I have kissed a lot of toads and made mistakes before finally finding a company that can do a job convincing enough to pass. So if anyone is interested in getting their hardware chromed, I can supply you with the contact info so you don't need to run through the gauntlet like I did. I'm going to head this question off at the pass 'NO, IT ISN'T CHEAP' cormiersam@hotmail.com

The round spacer at the left of the photo is original finish, the others are the finish I had done. The second photo is of the finish against KGP3

Re: "Dull chrome" North America

I'm in the states, who did you use for this?

Re: "Dull chrome" North America

Librandi's they're in Middletown, PA. You want to talk to Mitch.

Re: "Dull chrome" North America

Samuel, did you get everything needed chromed? If so, how much did it end up running you? I still got a few more bigger things to get done on mine, but this would be pretty great to get done as well.

THat looks rather interesting. I do have a question. Why didn't you go with zinc or other plating?

Re: "Dull chrome" North America

The original finish on Nortons up until mid-war was 'Dull Chrome' on all parts that were otherwise bright chrome on civilian models. Even the civilian models had a certain amount as a contrast finish in some areas.

There were no galvanised or cad-plated items on the early WD16H.

Amal used it too.

I'm not sure how much this finish was used by other manufacturers. Nortons were, of course, a class act !

Re: "Dull chrome" North America

Yeah, thanks Rik, I guess I tend to forget the people to whom this finish pertains to in North America can probably be counted on the fingers of two hands, if not one.
