Re: Who bought this Lucas CZ27? I knew they are getting expensive.
My brother bought one on Saturday for £2, they are still out there at sensible money if you can be bothered looking, the problem is that eBay is the lazy way to shop, I bought a BM ammeter on the same day for £1!

['getting to be Indian/Harley prices!!']...
The problem is that doesn't apply to the finished machine... ...
It's crazy really, when you think I paid less than that for a complete NOS Triumph gearbox...
Unfortunately you have to take some account of what a part might fetch on the open market and that just makes it more difficult when selling to friends...
The last one I sold, which was after a couple of them had sold for £150 on e bay, I sold to a friend for £40...
Re: Who bought this Lucas CZ27? I knew they are getting expensive.
It turns out that I bought it but I am not the winning bidder. Whoever that was came in at the last moment with a friend and tripled the price. The seller got ahold of me to let me know they weren't paying and offered it at the last good bid price, which was £154. The price I paid is still considerable but I have not been able to find one through other sources here in the U.S. - the £2 price or even £40 would have been much better.
Re: Who bought this Lucas CZ27? I knew they are getting expensive.
I've had this a couple of times with a side car lamp. Someone supposedly from France and someone from India bid the lamp up to stupid money in minutes. I don't know what the scam was all about, but I refused to deal with these wankers and offered it to the last bloke who made a sensible bid. I got threats from these other guys about reporting me to ebay. But I just told them to piss off and never heard again till they tried exactly the same thing on another mediocre item. Ron

I have an old amp gauge if anyone wants to swap it for the front wheel bearing lock rings (part numbers 67-5561 and 67-5562) for a 8" Half Width front hub for my new project (1951 golden flash). I am in oz.

Mike, am sure someone will take you up on that!
Sounds like a good deal.
Re: Who bought this Lucas CZ27? I knew they are getting expensive.
Ebay is a very weird place to do 'business' - I've repeatedly bid on items which the 'seller' would not supply because they didn't earn enough -
ebay does nothing.
Though I recently shamed a UK seller into supplying a flat slide carb I had won (£6) - by posting a VERY negative feedback
I've purchase a bike (Bultaco) which the buyer had outbid me on and paid for, but was never heard from again ?????
My cuz had £1000 deposit laid down on a Laverda Jota, 'buyer' never been heard from again (bikes now been sold to someone else) ...
I've sold +10 year old marine electronics (autopilot) for £3 less than a new item .....
I've sold out of date marine charts and pilot notes, for £5 less than new ones (used to do this every two years ...).
I recently made a VERY serious offer on a complete 3HW engine - as he wouldn't break (cams) - was outbid, the 'buyer' never paid or collected, I repeated the offer as 2nd highest - but no ....
He broke it, and I bought the bits I wanted for considerably less than my offer.
A very very weird place.
Sad that it has had such a distorting effect on values ....?
