Several seen many times before, but one maybe not..........
Loading a Flea into either an aircraft or a glider....no cradle and man-handling......."C" number clearly visible and first contract......not too far away from mine in fact......!
Thought to be taken within a glider........note the variation in colour finish shades which may suggest one in post-April 44 OD and the other in pre-April 44 SCC No.2 Brown...........? Of interest is the stencilled "C 1 A" marking........also seen on James ML's in storage.......thought to be a local inspection mark indicating "Class 1 - A (serviceable)"............
Famous image showing a trooper on "Exercise Mush" prior to D-Day in the UK demonstrating the 130lb "lightweight" Flying Flea....(mind you, the ML was another 30lb heavier !!!)........image taken before "Op Hernia" (for the rider - Lol !!!).......First contract Flea..............soldier is from the South Stafford's, part of the 1st Airborne Div Air landing Brigade (Gliders)..........the "110" marking (on Brown) being that for the battalion...........
Thanks for that info Lex ! Do you have that clip showing the captured Flea on a landing Ground being examined by a couple of Germans ? Also, that one from Arnhem showing the Flea being pushed alongside the captured Para's..........Close-ups of both if possible to identify the individual machines (although both first contract)......Thanks Lex !
