I'm having some troubles with my WM20, shee's been running spot on covering hundreds of miles already this year.
Now the problem, she's starting fine, I take her for a ride, and everything is well, then starts a little misfire, a couple of coughs, then all is well, however not much further down the road, I loose power , she barely fires, pops and bang when you'd does fire, ( obviously all the in burnt fuel in the exhaust ) , then dies. Could this be the condensor in my mag that's had it, and best to get the mag reconditioned too?
Assuming the symptoms are not caused by fuel starvation, it's almost guaranteed to be a failing magneto, based on your description of the problem. If the bike resumes operation after a cooling-off period, it is as you surmise, most likely a condenser. If the magneto has not been rebuilt, it's time has come at last. A good suggestion from another recent post about this very sort of problem: try closing down the spark plug gap to 10 thou. If the symptoms resolve or get better, it's most definitely a failing magneto, as closing the plug gap reduces the needed voltage to fire the plug.
I will try this first thing tonight, I hasn't thought about closing the gap on the plug. Fueling is not a problem, one of the first things I checked. Thank you very much for your advice, I will keep you all posted.
