I have I deliema , I see many machines at shows and on the internet with fire exstinguishers fitted, I have the extinguisher and mount, however I have never fitted it. The reason for this is I am unable to find any period wartime pictures, to back up, then actually being fitted.
I know it was passed for machines to carry them, but, without the evidence, I just can not bring myself to put it on my machine.
Thanks for the info, I've looked at the link from the previous forum post too. I've had a few years now of trying to find photographical evidence with no joy, but it strange that it was passed during wartime for them to be fitted yet the only evidence is on the training and instructors bikes.
Even though we can't find any evidence I do however encourage keeping a small modern extinguisher in one of the saddle bags. The reenactment society I belong to actually requires all vehicles to have a fire extinguisher on them during events. Plus that damn leaky carb....
Hi Rik, I'm one that can see both sides of that argument. Keeping the weight off and minimising wear and tear, yet having about of kit can compliment the bikes and show just how good and robust they are. The extinguisher is a funny one for me, I have it all and have done for a few years but never fitted due to jack of evidence of them actually being implimented.
