Hi folks. Im about to reassemble my bothersome and previously neglected/abused clutch on my wm20. What I would find useful would be (if known) the torque setting on the large castle clutch nut fitted to my single spring clutch. I dont want to over tighten it if I dont need to. Apologies if this has been covered before :-)

Hi Ian...There is no torque setting for the clutch nut...The M20 predates the modern torque wrench so this applies to all fasteners.... Figures quoted for the head bolts in the 'Tech. Section' for example, are just those arrived at by trial and error... The correct procedure is to do the nut up all the way until it bottoms out (against the clutch sleeve).. Then 'knock it up tight' using a C spanner and hammer, soft alloy drift and hammer etc... It's best to use a C spanner if you can get one to avoid damaging the nut... If you don't knock the nut up tight it is highly likely to come undone later...Ian

Ian, as always, your help and advice is invaluable and much appreciated :-) I now have the corrwct tools for the job so no need for hammer and drift :-) I'll tighten it as you suggest though. Many thanks :-) Ian
