It looks like a 'VG' Watsionian to me..Rob Miller is the resident sidecar expert here...I would think he'll comment when he sees this...Ian

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

Hi Ian

This may be a lightweight No.20 circa late 30s late 40s, I seem to remember the AA and GPO used a heavier duty chassis.

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

This definitely a BSA chassis. Sometimes it is stamped at the rear attachment for the motorcycle (hollow lug).

It looks like a model 20 or 22 chassis. I have to look in my books at home.

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

The wheel has an aluminium hub cap with "B4 Birmingham" cast into it. Sorry not for sale. Nice older gentleman next door just rocked up with it last night....... free!
Thinking about mounting it to the M20. I realize that this wasn't common place for WDM20's but could be a little bit of fun. Does any one have plans for a military style car that could be mounted on such a chassis?
Thanks for all the info that has already been posted!

Regards,
Ben.

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

Here is the only official side-car fitted to some WD M20's. It's a Swallow Model 8 and for some reason, BSA used the Swallow chassis rather than one of their own. Ron

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

BSA probably stopped manufacture of sidecar chassis...After all they had a few other things to do.... ....Ian

Re: Does anyone recognize this side car chassis?

The WD M20 is probably one of the more difficult WD bikes to fit a sidecar to, unlike the 16H the fixed sidecar lugs were removed which means you will need some extra clamps for the frame.

Also having used my M20 with a sidecar fitted at a couple of events this year the inability to filter through traffic in a convoy and the resulting extra strain on the clutch and transmission has confirmed to me what a silly idea it was, I will have it fitted at the War & Peace show so I can transport my father around the site but everywhere else, No.
