I'm almost done restoring my WM20 but was missing an inner chain case. I thought a chain case would be nice, mostly on account of my fondness of having my feet in an unmolested condition... The wonderful Steve Madden offered to send me one of his spares from the UK to Hawaii where I live.
So on June 15 he dutifully offered the package to the Royal Mail and I was somewhat surprised to discover it on my doorstep today. Now being a bit silly (and yes, alcohol was involved) I thought it worthwhile to calculate just how quickly my WM20 chain case had travelled.
By my reckoning, its 8626 Miles from Steve's post office to me here in Hilo. Thats traveling in a straight line, UK-New York-Los Angeles-Honolulu-Hilo. A distance covered by my chaincase in 108 hours (after adjusting for time zones).
So, my chaincase managed a stunning average speed of 79.87 MPH over a distance of nearly 9000 miles.
Not bad for an old sidevalve?

Those sort of speeds are only normally attainable on an M20 in a vertical dive..
