When I start my bike and give it a rev there is a squealing whirling type noise, if I lift the shifted up a bit and hold it the noise goes. When I ride of if I get to low on revs it does it again, it almost feels like it is trying to pull a gear into mesh.... Once everything gets hot it does not do it...... my thoughts are that the guy that did the restro 10 yrs ago put an almost grease in the gear box... am I on the right thought train here?
cheers
Fixed the noise, flushed the grease? If you call it grease out, replaced with some oil rode it got it hot, repeated the flush a couple of times and topped up with 90. The noise went away immeadiatey........Inherited an oil leak of course......... I feel the grease was trying to pull the gears into mesh whilst it was in neutral. Will need to pull the box out as there was brass showing in the grease and If possible I will fit a lip seal on the output shaft. Oh well I feel better about it now nothing to drastic
