Could I please trouble somebody to measure the centre distance between the two speedo bracket mounting bolt heads on the top of their WM20 girder fork yolk and tell me what the measurement is? I have no threaded holes on the top of my yolk for some reason known only to the gods , and need to drill and tap a couple as I am making my own speedo mounting bracket . I don't have an original bracket to use as a pattern . I know repro brackets are available but I've decided to make my own out of stainless . I'd like to space the holes authentically , hence the request for the measurement . A bit O.C.D , yes, but I'm like that , sorry . Any help much appreciated . Thanks , Leif .
I suppose they could be Indian made forks , although they're certainly not modern repro . They look every bit as old as the rest of the bike , which is a 1944 (they're not misaligned and don't look as if they've been die cast from recycled Corgi toys , either) Still anything is possible .
The center distance is 82 mm, The mounts are 1/2 inch in diameter with a height of 14 mm. They are threaded with 5/16 cycle and are placed in line with the front tubes.
