Sorry to be off topic, I would like a bit of help. I dropped our B31 (frame number CB31.3812, '54) and smashed the original Lucus 700 7" headlamp...very very sad indeed. I have sourced a replica

but it doesn't have the correct writing on the lens, it doesn't fit into the surround properly and it has a pilot bulb that has two wires to it, rather than earthing through the back of the lamp like the original. I am not happy with this solution, particularly as I would have to modify the original wiring.
A) is there any chance anyone knows of where I could get an original?
B) if not could I fit a car one? For example, this one (bar the fact it says RHD) looks promising...however, obviously I would like one that didn't say RHD...
I don't know if that's a genuine Lucas or a replacement, but Burton Bike bits or any of the other places should be able to help.
If you want a cheap fix we used to go to a car breakers and buy a sealed 700 headlight for a mini, or any of the other cars they fitted for a couple of quid. Gets you on the road until you find what you're looking for. That's if breakers have headlights for these cars now.
Like I said, it's was a cheap fix for a couple of quid while you sorted out another. I never noticed any difference when riding and I've still got old Lucas headlights in the garage with them in.
