Thought I would start a new post to save confusing things by using my original thread ..............
I've made enquiries with a rubber belt manufacturer who make bespoke bands , gave them the sizes of the leather bands I have , which obviously are not accurate .The good news they can make rubber bands to any size for me .
Working on the sizes I gave them, the biggest cost is the tooling . They make a std band which is 153.00 Flat x 3.25 wall x 13.00mm no tooling involved .
The sizes I gave them 156.00 Flat x 4.00 wall x 13.00mm minimum quantity 25 .

Many thanks for your enquiry, we quote as follows
Neoprene Rubber Bands
Size from Existing Tooling
153.00 Flat x 3.25 wall x 13.00mm
25 = £8.50 each
Size from new tool
156.00 Flat x 4.00 wall x 13.00mm
25 = £8.50 each
New tool part cost £95
Delivery 4/5 weeks, EX VAT, Carriage PAID
That works out around £370.00 approx 14.80 each , the next question is who would interested in buying one (25 people hopefully) if I get these made, obviously I don't want to be stuck with a lot of these bands plus the cost involved .
Ron is trying to get the actual size of the original band for me so wouldn't contemplate doing anything till then ,also I would discuss with the manufacturer first to make sure they are the right thing for the job.
Forgot to say if there is no tooling involved then they would come out around £10.08 . If no interest is shown then I'll only get the minimum quantity I can , Lex wants some I'll keep 3/4 myself and if anyone else wants some great , keeps the cost down .
I'm sending the manufacturer one of the small bands so they get the make up and elasticity correct .
Admire the effort and input on here, but seriously the narrower band is only slightly narrower than the 4 lower bands and around the same length...........
I had a NOS set plus spares of the wider bands.......I cut one wider one down with a Stanley knife (easy but patient work), renewed all the rubber tube-work (bushes) from items here in stock and assembled the forks into the frame starting with the steering stem lug, ball-head clip and rubbers............only tool I had to use was a long bar to slip the rubbers over the second set of bushes after first fitting one one set........easy ! No issues !!!
Third Flea I've built now and never an issue..........
