BSA tank mount

Hello!

Does anybody have drawings or dimensions for tank front mounting set? Cup and rubber and so on? I don't have it but
would like to make some.
Thanks

Re: BSA tank mount

Hey Kalle,

I'll send the drawings I did for my book. Cheers, Robb

The front mounts have a steel stamping in a shallow draw. You will see soon.

Re: BSA tank mount

I machined stainless mountings from solid, though as Rob says the original cups were pressings...Ian

Re: BSA tank mount

Hi!
Thanks to everyone! Robb already sent me the drawings. By the way, 1938 BSA had reduced head 5/16 cycle in many places. Headlight stays, speedo clamp, battery holder to the frame, front stay, can't remember all by heart.

Re: BSA tank mount

Thanks Kalle, Robb's loss is a sad thing.

Thank you Ian, I should be ok now. We did have them in stock, but Anita sold them all!!
I should have made some drawings whilst I could get my grubby hands on them.

Excusing the expression Ian, have you managed to get your hands on your big steering damper knob yet?

Re: BSA tank mount

Once you've got them on keep a good eye on them. In my experience they tend to loosen off. I've lock wired mine.

Re: BSA tank mount

@ bob
Most of the time the thread in the headstock is bad but to secure i always do a very little loctite on the bold...very little...

Re: BSA tank mount

Thanks Kalle for drawings.

Re: BSA tank mount

Hi Roy
Agreed that the condition of the thread in the headstock is important, & on most of our machines this thread may be worn. I've just had one of mine helicoiled.
What I've had happen is that even with regular checking the bolts have a tendency to suddenly loosen & fall out. I've lost a couple.
Incidentally, I bought my new parts from Draganfly.

Re: BSA tank mount

I just bought a complete set for my WB30 from Les at Russell's. He even has the original rubbers. I also agree with Roy on a spot of Loctite.

Re: BSA tank mount

What a silly sod I am!, it was pointed out to me that there is a M20 besides me that has original ones on.
