hi folks,
I'm a new owner of a WM20 - just received it last week. Its a 1941 model but looks to be a bitsa.
The transmission is not original and I was hoping someone out there could tell me what it might be? Also, the top yoke of the forks looks very different from that of my friend's '43. Can anyone help me out? Much appreciated and aloha from Hawaii!
The gearbox is from the swing arm frame BSA A and B models post-1953, and requires a mounting plate above as well as below the gearbox. More photos would help sort out what they did to fit it. Or is your WM20 engine in a swing arm frame? It would fit right into a late B31 frame. Frame number would be _B31 XXXX, with _ a letter E, F, or G.
The top fork lug looks like a modified Indian part. Those rubber-insulated bar mounts are Indian, as fitted on the Chief. The fork lug looks like it was narrowed of fit the BSA girder. More photos would really help!
I've uploaded some more images here - https://picasaweb.google.com/115032973585731669649/December212014?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCNPiybK08Yb6Ww&feat=directlink
Believe it or not, the engine and frame have matching numbers 34382

Some nice early features and some not so nice features......Love the wiring
If the numbers are prefixed with WM20. It must be from contract C7287 in 1940.
