Speedo drive gear and hub gear lubrication

Probably a silly question, but what is the best lubricant to run between the speedo drive gear and the hub gear? I was going to use grease, but won't it fling around at speed? Thanks for any insight.
Oh, the wheel is Norton 16H.
While I'm here, what's the best method of pinning the speedo drive gear to the shaft? I believe it's a 3/32" hole, but nothing I have here will fit it tightly. Anybody have some creative methods?
Thanks again.

Re: Speedo drive gear and hub gear lubrication

I just run a finger full of bearing grease round the teeth of the hub gear, just enough to fill the teeth. Never had a problem or seen it on the brake shoes. Ron

I believe the original fitting was a solid steel pin that was a fairly snug fit and need to be drifted out with a very fine punch............

I had the same issue in finding something suitable and looked at using a general DiY steel panel pin suitably cut-down before finding some small old-stock Imperial steel split-pins that did the job fitting the hole snugly and easier to remove if necessary......

Thanks both very much for your opinions on the matter at hand -- a great help.
