Good day from sunny Australia. I pulled the rear wheel off my Matchless G3L and wrote down how the rear axle bits fitted but let petrol leak onto the bit of paper so lost some info. Question is the hollow axle has one bearing fitted with more plain axle showing on the outside. What side does the larger axle part fit out from brake side or opposite side.
Thanking you in anticipation and Merry Christmas.
John
I think, from the top of my head, that the longer piece goes there where the bearing adjuster is. but better check!!
I somehow thought I had to remember it this way, as the earlier G3WO has the adjustment on the other side then the G3L, you can adjust those in situ, much easier!!
Yes I took the outer races out as well to replace the bearings and hollow axle which is one unit part number 11905 as I purchased new old stock item here in Oz. So it is the hollow axle with the bearings fitted to it that is longer on one side. I am trying to work out what side the longer part is on?
regards
John
