Cold Ride

Colin Harmes and his Son in law Shane Locke rode from Devon to Bovington Tank Museum last weekend. Sometimes in -2 freezing conditions. Colin can add if he wants. Ron

Don't you love motorcycling in the winter?... ....Ian

Re: Cold Ride

Thanks Ron for posting the picture, I must learn how to do it, we had a good ride up and back, it was cold, but modern thermal long johns under the battledress really helped, we stopped at Bridport on the way up for a coffee and bacon sarnie, which helped, the tank museum Christmas Fare was on and some MVT members were in attendance, if anything we left it a bit late leaving so it made for a dark ride home, but enjoyed every minute of it.,

MERRY CHRITSMAS ALL.....................

Re: Cold Ride

Hi Lex

Nice combo, great photo, shame about the front end though. Still is nice to see the bikes being used as intended..

Re: Cold Ride

Daft buggers comes to mind and i bet most are nearer sixty than sixteen.

Re: Cold Ride

you got it Rusty Nuts, but add a few more years, but after all these years of riding I can still hear my Mum saying "cover your back up, you will suffer when you get older" so long ago, but a Triton with clip-on's is are far cry from a M20, but it was still cold,

Re: Cold Ride

After our ride out to the tank museum Dorset police have just sent me a seasonal greeting in the form of a speeding fine, it would seem that the camera said that I was doing 36MPH at Chideock instead of 30MPH

Re: Cold Ride

All speeding tickets acquired on an M20 should be framed... ...

I was quite pleased when I got mine coming back from Prestons Museum a few years back... ...Ian

Re: Cold Ride

I think I'd dispute that and say a 1940 speedo isn't that accurate.

I wouldn't! They might well do you for having a defective speedo? I've always thought there was a built in percentage tolerance to allow for speedo error, like the 5% overweight smack wrist tolerance for trucks. But it wouldn't be 20% as in the case of Colin......Who still thinks he's a 'Rocker' Ron

PS Thanks for the pictures of the Manx! It wasn't cold and I wasn't riding

Re: Cold Ride

had a chat with Shane (my fellow speed king) we may opt for the driver awareness course and get it over with, and as Ian Suggested, frame the fine, I will ask them for the camera picture, its a wonder I have not been done when driving the K2 to Weymouth, as I always try to get a run up out of Chideock, better watch out for it next time, and Ron, would I have had more street cred on my old Triton

It'll go better with an exhaust pipe on Ron
Thanks for your help

Re: Cold Ride

No street cred on a cafe racer at 36mph. You would need to be doing a ton with two fingers up to the camera.....Then some smirking at the judge in court while you comb that Brylcream through your DA.....The youngsters won't know what the Hell we're on about. Ron

That's exactly what we were doing! My tube guy made a bespoke exhaust pipe which we then took to my local chrome plate firm. Horror can elaborate if he wants. Ron

Re: Cold Ride

Think carefully before opting for the driver awareness course. Three points for a minor speeding offence may hardly register on your insurance premium. Insurance companies are now often asking if you have taken driver awareness courses. People take driver awareness courses for more serious offences and as a result this can increase your insurance more than points. I am not sure when the a course attendance is removed from your history, seems to be a grey area?

Re: Cold Ride

I just paid the fine and kept the throttle to the stop...all the while looking a bit more carefully for cameras.. .....

Judging by the numbers of accidents they say the Police have maybe they should go on the driver awareness course... ....

There used to be a motorcycle cop who came into the bike shop I worked in...Always harping on about police advanced rider training and telling us all how to do it...

Early one morning he drove his BMW into the back of a parked milk float, broke both his legs and wrote of the bike..

We couldn't understand how he did it after all that training... ..Ian
