Re: Photos of the Norton

Here's one on eBay, I'm sure they'll send to Canada. It's a repro, but the same as an original.

Re: Photos of the Norton

Canadian troops loved the 16H.........it remained in service long after WW2.......

You'd think there would be a fair few parts in Canada.........but there again, it's a pretty big Country..........

Re: Photos of the Norton

Thanks, I will take a look.

The bike was demobbed in 1954. Both engine and frame numbers are the same. I am not sure it ever saw over seas service. There is a 16h at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa that was built 28 bikes before mine, in the same contract.
There is one on Rob's Norton site built a few numbers after mine in Italy, so I am not sure how to track down that information.

Re: Photos of the Norton

Steven, myself and others have used the Royal Enfield side stand clip which I think is near identical. Available from Hitchcock's for a few quid. Click on No7. Ron

Re: Photos of the Norton

The brake arm was essential...

If I cast my rivet-counter's eye over things (I don't have any other, to be honest) a Lucas HF1235 horn instead of the modern 6v item would add to the period effect and you have a later long dynamo and MCR2 regulator...both of these could be made less obvious by painting (black for the dynamo and service colour for the regulator cover).

There are those here who are not immune to the charms of brass components but the regulators were always painted.

Re: Photos of the Norton

It also looks like you have the wrong headlight, it should be a Lucas DU42 with a flat glass. All things you can change when and if you find them.
