I bought for the Triumph 3hw a speedometer. Now I am looking for the speedometer drive.
I have to know the model speedo drive and in which direction it turns, because there are some differt models with 90°.
So which one is the wright one?
Maybe someone does have the right one for sale, please lett me know.
I also want to find the gears in to the hub, the gear must be 58teeth and on the speedmeter drive shaft 18teeth.
All those angle speedo drives are the same ratio and even use the same body. But of course they rotate in opposite directions depending on which side the drum is. A Norton 16H brake drum is on the left, whereas a Triumph is on the right. Ron
I asked some other dealers, but also they don't know what type it was mount on.
If it was the same one as for the Norton, BSA km20 or an other model , it was easier to find one.
The KM20 speedo drive is not a screw in type. It looks similar but is held in with a clamp, like the one on my C10.
The 3HW drive could also be used on Ariel W/NG, Velocette MAC etc. I don't think this information will make it any easier to find one. I'm not sure that Cornucopia has the internal gears but please let us know if he does.
Cornucopia list the two sprockets Ron, not the internal gears of the speedo drive.........(the one for the hub and the smaller 18-tooth one for the end of the speedo drive)...........but worth asking them about the internal gears though.....
Yes Richard/Steve, those are the gears I meant. The two inside the hub that Richard already called for. The trouble with Peter Long's catalogue is, he hasn't updated it in years However he does sell some of the best reproduction parts on the market.
Geof Meyers had some NOS 3HW drives a couple of years ago, but I think they are all gone? But worth a shout. gimyers@mac.com
