There is a little drizzle of oil under my bike and the cullprit appears to be a partially stripped thread on the drain plug 28-243 casing. Can I Heli-Coil this thread or fill with chemical metal and re-tap, any other solutions appreciated?

The thread is 5/16" Whitworth..You could helicoil it with a 1 x thread diameter helicoil...

Alternatively you could drill and tap to 3/8" diameter...but then you could have a problem later if it strips again due to a limited amount of material around the hole...

Liquid metal may be more trouble than it's worth as you're going to have difficulty getting rid of any residual oil before applying it and even if you're successful you will remove 99% of it when you retap it.....

Personally I'd go for the helicoil as the best solution...Ian
