Bag, HAMPTON & SONS 1942

Hi all,

I found and bought a bag at the flea market last Friday.
It is marked "HAMPTON & SONS 1942" inside, looked NOS.

Trying to understand what it is, I found 2 explanations,
On the same auction website:

1. Home Front/Civilian Gas Mask Bag

http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/home-front-civilian-gas-mask-bag-269240935

2. Army messenger satche.

Here it is:

Any thoughts?

I think its a gas mask bag, I've never heard the "Messenger Satchel" story but who can say how equipment was improperly used.

Hi Noam! It is definitely a gas mask bag - we regularly see them and have appraised several.. You will find them from a few bucks at Ebay and a bit more valuable if they have a great history attached. https://www.mearto.com/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&site_id=&q=GAS+MASK+BAG&commit=
