Oil

Hi all,

does anyone have a recommendation for the Oil. I actually run thick oil in the engine and in the gearbox but as it is a synthetic oil all metal parts in the oil are kept in balance and are not sinking to the ground as I have expected it. As my bike has no oil filter I guess this is not how it is mend to be.
Maybe someone has good experience with a dedicated oil.

Thanks a lot
Phillip

Re: Oil

Hi Phillip...Assuming you have an M20, run a straight SAE 40 in the engine, gearbox and primary drive...

Synthetics are not really suitable (and expensive)...Ian

Re: Oil

Thanks,

just found this kind of Oil, looks very prommising. GB made (ERWINOL)
I will try this one. Says no additives and suitable for Oldtimers Pre war.

Re: Oil

That seems a bit odd. An English made oil but website is based in Germany.
My recommendation would be Silkolene Chatsworth 40. Super stuff.

Re: Oil

OIL always change it even if you thought you had, do it again , and at least every 750 miles and or once a year, use single grade oil,50 grade summer 40 grade winter unless its very cold where you are its 30, but who rides classic bikes at minus ten, ? never multigrade or synthetic, nuff said, Andrew.h.

Re: Oil

I always use Castrol GP50 in my Norton. Use it in engine, gearbox and chaincase.
