Hi!

I picked these pannier bags up for my G3l at the CVMG national rally this weekend. They are well used but still in good condition and have "837" stencilled on them in yellow. The guy I bought them from said they was wartime issue but the Canadians used these up until at least the late 50's on the TRW's.

Does anyone know what the "837" could mean - if anything?

Also one bag is heavily soaked in oil, is there any way to clean it without ruining the canvas?
