A few months ago there was a discussion on the best solution to use to remove the old original brown petseal. Someone posted a link to the remover on ebay, i did look but never brought any. My Norton tank had been coated in petseal by a previous owner, now its all going soft and has coated the inside of the carb brown and left a ring mark on the needle. So its time to remove the stuff and see what the inside of the tank is like. If it's not too bad i will leave it rather than re coat it. Any ideas to the old posting on this topic.
Thanks, that the stuff i looked at before on ebay. Will take your tip and read up about it, it will no doubt strip the paint off the outside as well so better be carefull.
Thanks also Theo.

PS the spam on the site is getting into a problem!
as a prime ingredient of all paint strippers it will indeed remove any paint it comes into contact with.
wrap the tank in clingfilm and lots of gaffer tape around fillr and tap holes.
I think clingfilm is unaffected but do check.
work outside, overall, heavy pvc cgloves, eye protection and don't breathe it in, its quite volatile.
that said I have used it for lots of things and ain't dead yet.
works a treat on old paint brushes
Thanks Ken,
Just bought 5L on ebay, will do some checks first as my paint work is good and i do not want to damage it. If i put the full 5L in how long does it take to desolve the old petseal. Or does it fall off in large lumps? What about the old petseal above the high tide mark of the dichloromethane does this desolve with the fumes or do i have to shake the tank around.

5l in the tank is overhill, one litre at most.
swill it around [with the cap on]
reaction varies, depending on how much is in there, its a suck it and see type of job.
