Registration numers

Hi Guy's , can any one help ? My m20 is now ready for a reg number .
when i brought the bike there wasn't any paper work so im guessing there is no number for my bike !
Can any tell me what form I need the apply for a reg number and V5 as reading past forum topics on dvla it looks to be rather a mine field now since the government cut backs on local dvla establishments !
im aware it will be age related not a problem as long as its not a Q plate.. unless is theres any info in the forum Archives ??
would it help if i post engine frame numbers and C number on here to see if any one can help

Re: Registration numers

The first thing to do is ask the BSA owners club for a dating letter which proves its age. They usually charge for this service, but it is accepted by the dvla as proof of its age.

Re: Registration numers

Gary ,don't go down the Q plate route, it will devalue the bike, also cost you more to insure.as Ron says get the dating stuff first.are you in the V.M.C.C. or most clubs do a registration service.

Re: Registration numers

With the closure of the local licensing offices, the burden placed upon the club dating officers has increased enormously. The system is still sorting itself out and requirements seem to be in a state of change.

It's not always possible to get away with what someone else has in the past. The best advice is to contact the owner's club and follow their advice to the letter. Assuming that your numbers are in order and the club gives a positive appraisal, an age-related number and exemption from tax and MOT should be provided.

The clubs will now normally require photos, rubbings of numbers and quite possible an inspection as well.

Regrettably, things seem a bit unsettled at the VMCC at present. The one make club is likely to be the better option.
