Ian some help needed, please around the Magneto

Hello.

We are a steep away to start the engine but I have a question is it normal that the magneto has (I hope you will understand me what I mean) all the time power, the contact breaker schould avoid contact when not coming together but my magneto has all the time power on it (I have tested it with a car charger on 6 volts).

See the picture below. Pointed with white arrow.

Because of that screw all the time the magneto is on power the contact breakers scholud awoid it.

Or we are not understanding it right.

I must say that it has a good spark.

Try sending your message in your own language Mitja someone here might translate it.

Re: Ian some help needed, please around the Magneto

I think he's asking if there should be continuity across the points all the time and is wondering if the bolt head may be touching and causing continuity all the time.
There is always continuity across the magneto, that is why you cannot time the engine with an avo meter but have to use one of the special timing boxes that are available

Hi Mitja,To me,your points (contact breaker)look to have been bent, then straightened a few times. They should not look like that. The fixed contact looks
to be screwed out much too far.The little plastic tappet that pushes the contact
open needs to be free in its holder.
You can not test your magneto with a car charger. You can not test there is power all the time.
The contacts should be open nearly all the way round as you turn the engine.
The gap or space between needs to be 0.3mm when they are open.
When the contacts get near the bottom (pointing to the ground)the gap should close.
Then about when they point towards the front wheel they should open again.
The Piston needs to be set 11mm before the top of the cylinder,on the compression stroke (both valves closed)and the advance lever pulled fully round to its limit.
The contacts should be just about to open then.
If this is not correct, you need to take the gear off and adjust this.

I would get some new contacts, part number 484098 and a new tappet 464092
and the screw 110730
Draganfly have these or Ebay 360774467577 161279301113

hope you can understand this ,and hope it helps
cheers Rick
