Got replacement body for the Amal 276. Ran great for first year. Tried second year to find fuel dripping from bottom mixing chamber union nut. Replaced washer twice & tightened as much as I dared but found seepage continued. Is it likely that level in the bowl may have some input. Although I seem to remember lowering it as well to no success. That was a Hitchkock body replacement by the way.
Kind of interrupted my riding and would like to get back in the saddle.
Henri there is a bleed hole at the top of that big union nut and no amount of tightening it will stop it leaking if your fuel level is too high. It's normally caused by the float needle not seating properly. Have you checked and cleaned out your float bowl? With the float in place and bowl held upside down, you should not be able to blow past it by mouth.
Hitchcocks only sell genuine Amal parts. But I was not aware that you can buy just a body? Will need to check that out for future use.
On his website were comments hinting to what you were saying. Will give it another try. I bought that part about nine years ago and then used a variety of bowls and jets and original floats. May have to ditch those for the newer types.
