My 1940 M20 bike ready for MOT (I am keeping 64 reg plate which came with the bike)with a new stop tail light fitted. I have the Green tax book with the previous owners name in it.
I have to get insurance, any suggestions who offers the best price. I have a test centre ready to take the task of the MOT on for £29.
As this is my first experience of registering and organising the tax disc can anyone give advice about what I have to do. Don't want to screw it up.
just been through the same with my matchless, the year of registration makes no difference to mot status, any pre 60 vehicle is now exempt but you will need form v112 from the post office to declare it exempt and if the logbook doesn't list the taxation class as historic that will need changing by filling in section 7 and form v10 to apply for tax
Sounds like you don't have a modern V5 logbook for the bike. This needs to be addressed first. Do a forum search there is a mountain of stuff on how to do this.
Arthur I seem to remember from previous posts that you are in norfolk ?.,if I,m correct you can try george or stephen at the north walsham bike museum with help in registering your bike .I have had their help with the last couple of my bikes they are registered with DVLA and are very helpful, also DVLA like to deal with official ? stamped documents to prove that your bike is what you say it is... Dave.
That is a good plan. I have met those guys before they were very helpful. I am waiting for some forms to arrive from DVLA. When I get everything together I will write it up for everyone to know what went right or wrong .
