Best historical D-Day book?

I am looking for consensus on what others on the forum feel is the most accurate, unbiased and satisfying book on the D-Day invasion. I have read several, including those by Steven Ambrose and Dan van der Vat. I found those to be rather biased and unfulfilling.

Any recommendations are much appreciated! I am especially interested in books written by English authors, and especially works done in the 50's.

Thanks...

Both volumes of "D-Day Then and Now". The timemachine-effect of the then and now format is amazing.

I can't comment but I especially like Gregory Blaxland's 1973 'Destination Dunkirk, The Story of Gort's Army' if you progress to 1940 !
