US eBay- "90% complete"

Who said the tele fork would not fit the WM20 frame?

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

I wouldn't think he's ever ridden it with those forks

But with the original forks included and under £2400 buy it now price. It could be a reasonable project for someone.

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

Indeed not that bad, most of the original parts seem to be there.
Also the girder model front wheel and speedo drive (?)

Just love the tank badge/knee grip combo....

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

Good fun when on heavy braking when the wheel won't turn because the mudguard is hitting the down tube hahahaha

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

I think the front mud guard will hit the frame when the front forks are depressed as they are very close with it just sitting there

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

Yep,
Parts bin special.
However BSA did make a tele fork conversion for WM20's.
It consisted of a pair of top & bottom plates that were machined off center to each other such that the holes in to bottom plate were a little further forward of the top plate thus positioning the front a little further forward.
This means that the forks do not turn in the same axis as the steering stem which in turn makes the steering fell really funny at low speeds.
AFAIK it was a dealer only part so they could buy up surplus WM20's civilianizes them & flog them off to joe public as "new" bikes.
I have come across a couple down here & a now deceased club member says they were fairly common for a short while after WW II before every one got enough money for one of those nice new swing arm jobbies.

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

Trevor, Ive heard this before & it seems strange to me that BSA would make a part that gave odd steering geometry, are you sure it wasn't just some skulduggery at one particular dealership ?
I just doesn't sound like a BSA produced part to me.

Re: US eBay- "90% complete"

I'd agree with that..What benefit would accrue to BSA by supplying such a kit?...It would stop people buying new models apart from anything else..

I would have thought it might be something locally produced like the Italian OHV conversions and swinging arm conversions for the M20...Ian
